We are pleased to announce the 21st Journal of Internal Medicine/KEY Foundation Symposium, which will take place at Rönneberga, Stockholm, Sweden, on June 28–30, 2027, under the title:

Mitochondrial DNA in Human Disease: From Mechanisms to New Therapies

The symposium will bring together leading international researchers and clinicians working in mitochondrial biology, genetics, disease mechanisms, and therapeutic development. The scientific program will include sessions on mtDNA maintenance, mitochondrial genetics and inheritance, disease mechanisms, emerging therapies, and novel technologies and diagnostic approaches.

To promote active participation and in-depth scientific discussion, the symposium is intentionally designed as a relatively small and highly interactive meeting of approximately 100 participants. Participants will be encouraged to present posters, and a selected number of poster contributions will be chosen for oral presentation. Our aim is to create an atmosphere that fosters close interaction between invited speakers and participants, with particular emphasis on engaging junior investigators, stimulating scientific exchange, and promoting new collaborations.
